Weekly Assignment Due April 24

Sheet Music Scavenger Hunt
 

Search the internet for sheet music to a piano piece that you like. You may use free sites like 8notes.com, free-scores.com, etc. You may print the sheet music and write on it, or use “Markup” on your iPhotos app, screenshots, etc.

Once you have completed writing your answers on your sheet music, (paper or screenshot version), submit a photo of your Sheet Music Scavenger Hunt to your class’s forum page.
If you do not know a term in the questions, search the internet! Write directly on your copy of the music:

 

1. Circle measure 5.

2. Highlight all the quarter rests in yellow.

3. Place a BLUE X over any dynamic symbols.

4. Write a W above any whole rests, an H above any half rests.

5. Write a T above the time signature.

6. Place a star over your first note.

7. What is the letter name of the first note you play? Write it below the notes for both hands in Purple.

8. How many beats are there in each measure? Circle in PINK where you found the answer!

9. How many measures are there on this page? Write it in Blue in the bottom right corner.

10.Put a Green Star around the tempo for this piece of music.

11. Circle in RED the composer and/or arranger of this music.

CHALLENGE QUESTIONS (extra credit):

12. Name the Key Signature to the Left of the first measure, inside an ORANGE BOX.                  

13. Who owns the copyright to this piece of music? Highlight it in NEON GREEN.

Weekly Assignment
April 13-17

Many of you have shown some interest in learning jazz piano. This is a great video to help you start!
 

You will begin with the left hand, which plays bass then top of the chord. There are 4 chord changes. 

​

Then take the time to acquaint yourself with the "Gospel Scale" = "Major Blues Scale".

Make up your own solo line to go over your chord progression! You can improvise, or write it out. 

Record yourself playing and post it in the Forum page (Tab at the top of page).

3. What are 3 things that the Hao staff uses, that the grand staff also uses?

 

4. If you have a piano or keyboard (or feel adventurous with an online piano), try out some of the Hao staff music. Record yourself playing it, and post the video in the forum!
